When I was younger, I couldn't wait to hear that come from my own child's mouth. I cried the day Linus said that word to me when he was around 7 months old. His first word was daddy but were not talking about that : )
Usually at home, he yells for daddy but when he's tired, he only wants mommy. I love it too. Well, a couple of weeks ago, he started calling me Kelly and his dad Eugene. It's quite funny. I'll say to him in the morning "What's my name?" , he'll then say "Mommy". Then I'll say but what do you like to call me, and he grins from ear to ear and says "Kelly". Then I ask what his daddy's name is and he says "Eugene" as he grins again. I know I shouldn't incourage him to call me by my name but he hears it all the time from his dad and grandparents. Besides, no one can say my name the way he does. I get teary eyed everytime he says my name. I'm even teary eyed right now. I love the fact that my child is just being a child thats exploring.
I was blessed with a fantastic Mom growing up. And of course, I'm daddys little girl so don't say anything bad about him cuz you'll loose that battle with me. Just ask him :)
Over 10 years ago, my brother met and fell in love with Dixie. I was so mad at the fact that she called my parents mom and dad. I know I was mean, and to you Dixie, I'm very sorry for that.
I eventually realized that my parents were full of love to share and it wasn't stopping with Charles and I. Now my parents have alot of adults our age calling them mom and dad. To know that I came from parents like that makes me so proud.
10 years ago, I fell in love with Eugene and I started working with his mom in her daycare. It was exciting cuz I got to be with his mom and see how she was. Her and I became good friends and the bond has become alot stronger since Linus was born. I know that I can take him to her house and know that he's well taken care of and loved. He is spoiled there but hey, it's her first grandchild and he can do almost nothing wrong : )
To all the women in my life that have made me who I am today, I say THANK YOU!!!
