This week sure has been very crazy for my home. Tuesday night, when I went to pick up Linus from his mema and papa's house, he decided to play for a while with his papa so I plopped myself ina chair and watched him and Eugene's mom plant flowers. Linus kept changing things to do like for example: he rode his bike, played frisbies, rode his john deere tractor, helped carry flowers, etc. Meanwhile, my dog was runnnig through the yard chasing chipmunks. Poor chipmunks. I finally convinced Linus is was time to go and offf we went to get in the Jeep. I got him strapped in, got my flowers in the front seat, and started yelling for Guinness to join us. She didn't come but thats nothing new. I called for her a second time and finaaly she came. W-A-L-K-I-N-G like a turtle which is so much NOT like her. She runs all the time, leaps, and just has a ball there. I finally got her inthe Jeep. Got home and let her out and she was still slow moving. I opened the house door and asked Eugene to check her feet to see if she hurt herself. He didn't see anything but knowing him, I had to check for myself. I know, its bad not trusting anyone. I had her lay on the kitchen fllor and I checked her feet. Nothing. I ran my hand up along her stomach and thats when I ran into it. Blood. She has blood just behind her left front leg. I hurried Eugene over to help check her out and he tried to buzz the hair around her and decided to just use scissors. That is when he said, Kelly, there is something stuck in there. OH MAN! I jumped up off the floor and called the vet. She called back within a matter of minutes. We, I mean I, decided that she should go in right away. We got there at 8:30pm. Dr. H____ got Guinness for surgery and said she'd call within an hour with results. I had a major meltdown when I got home. She called at 10:10pm. She found a 6 inch stick stuck in her and it had fractured her sternum. Poor dog. She has always been a leaper and that is just what she did to hurt herself. I picked her up yesterday morning at 9:30am. She was soooo glad to go home. She has to drain tubes in her to help heal her faster and without getting an infection. I called Eugene right away and told him the total. $458.60. Thank goodness our vet offered us a credit card type of card to use for payment. You just have to agree to pay within 1 year with no interest. Sign me up I said.
On the way home, I called Eugene's Mom to let her know and she told me that Linus was running a temperature. She called back within 3 minutes and told me it was 101.5. Oh great. I called Eugene back and told him the situation and we agreed I should just go home for the day and leave my cell number on the door and answering machine for our business. When I got out to memas house, he was burning up even more. Poor boy. We went home and I gave him some tylenol with codeine. He turned around a threw it back up. I waited for 20 minutes and gave him some motrin. That too came back out. I quit at that point and just made him lay down and take a nap. Within a matter of an hour. He was his old self again. But within two hours, the fever spiked again and by the time 8:30 came around, it was up to 103. Crap! I called Eugene and begged him to come home now and he was already planning on coming. He helped with Linus until late. He even let Linus sleep in the living room by him. I believe his fever broke sometime early this morning because he climbed in my bed and when I got out to get ready for work, Eugene's pillow was soaked. I called home a couple of hours ago and he said that his fever was up to 101 again. oh man. What to do, what to do.
I just need everyones prayers for Guinness and Linus to get better and stay well. Thank you.
