We had an awesome time camping this past weekend. It was about 86 degrees on Saturday. Linus and I played at this toddler friendly park for about an hour before older kids showed up and he just stood there watching them instead of playing himself. I decided it was too hot to play out for a bit and we drove to Glen's and got a Pepsi and OJ for Linus. Cold drinks are necessary on hot days. Eugene rode his bike for about 2 1/2 hours and finished shortly before 1pm. He was very tired when he was done. We sat around under a tree in the nice breezy shade and just relaxed for a couple of minutes before we went to BC Pizza for lunch. We went back to the park and played for a little bit longer on the playground and even went to the beach but it was too cold for Linus. He just wanted to play on the slides. He basically spent the rest of the afternoon in time out because he didn't want to listen to us and went down the slides we told him not to. They were to big for his age. We sat in the grass and watched other kids play and even threw grass at each other to keep Linus from getting to grouchy from sitting in his stroller. Linus and I had a "pulled pork" slow cooked sandwich for dinner with beans. Eugene hasn't had meat in over a year so we ate his dinner. Eugene has just potato salad. The sandwich was awesome. Linus took the bread and decided to throw it to the seagulls. Well, let me tell you, that was a bad idea cuz then they kept swarming us and bugging us the rest of the time we sat at the picnic table.
We left the park at around 7pm and went back to the campground and hung out. It sprinkled a little but that didn't make us move to quick to put things away. It only lasted about 5 minutes.
Bedtime was not fun for me. Linus thought that being in this small tent meant that he could "try" to run and jump over us and stay up late. The first night it took him a long time to fall asleep. He was the last one out and the first one up the next morning. Saturday night, he tossed and turned almost the entire night until I realized that he was probably cold and put his socks back on and he slept until around 8am. We were all packed and ready to go home by 8:20am. We had breakfast at a little restaurant called Kortman's and really enjoyed the food.
In all it was a great weekend just being with my 2 "boys" and having fun as a family. I think it could've lasted a little longer though. ( :
