Delivery

When I went in to the hospital to have my first child, I was terrified and my Mom knew it so she stayed with me until well after Linus was born. She was awesome. Besides, my brother's wife had 2 kids before me and my mom couldn't tell her what to do. Only me. ( :
I planned on having Linus naturally but that didn't happen. After the doctor broke my water at 8am ish, I quickly dialated to 8 but stuck there. They had to give me Potocin to get me up to 10 so I could give birth. Well, that was the worst drug ever. It made me dizzy, the room was always spinning and the nurses nametags were always jumping. LOL. After I finally reached 10, I started to push. It was 10:30pm. I was exhausted. I went in the night before and he stripped my membranes more and I was having small contractions all night long. Enough to keep me awake and be really restless. I went back in at 7 to be induced but didn't have to be....
....... After I started pushing, it felt like I pushed for hours but I know it was more like 1 hour and a 1/2. I told the doctor at around 11:45, that I was done pushing and wanted him to just cut me open and get him out so the pain would stop. Call me a wimp if you want but the pain was horrible. See, I had back labor. It was absolutley horrid. I wanted to just go hide and deal with it without people bugging me. That didn't happen. They wheeled me down to the operating room at around 12. The tried for almost 1/2 hour to do the spinal epaderal (sp), but it didn't work. I had to be completely knocked out for the birth of my first child. I hated it too. I don't remember the first 2 hours after he was born because I wasn't brought out of my "sleep" until after 2am. The funny thing was, my friend Judy and her sister June were calling me all night and they quit after around 8pm. When I got back to my room at 2, I made my mom call Judy and let her know I had him. Judy still thinks its funny that my mom called at 2 to let her know that Linus was here. My mom didn't tell her any information. So the next day, she came up to the hospital to find out all the goodies. Her first goody was Linus filled his diaper for her. His first one. It was tar she said. So funny. I couldn't get out of bed yet and wasn't able to change him. Judy did it because my Mom couldn't figure the diaper out. Mothers.
I know that my next child will be born the same way but at least I will be prepared for it. Besides, I like it when people tell me I'm a wimp. They just have no idea what it's like having your stomach cut open to give life. It was awesome and I still show Linus the scar I got for him. The pain and recovery time was so worth it.

That doesn't sound fun. Next time things can be planned for you & much more relaxing.
